Book Review - The Age of the Sages

The Age of the Sages by Mark W Muesse   This is a brilliant book that clearly shares with the reader the way many Eastern religions and movements became established. Insight into the evolution and transformation within the nations and within the ages.  A reader is able to understand clearly the origins of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Confucianism, and Daoism.  A person can understand how and when some of the various variations in the movements have taken place over the ages.  The reader is actually taken on the historical journey of each of the religions and the movements that shaped them.  This is a book that is ideal for a person searching for greater understanding, a class that is seeking a general overview of the formation of these religions, and a reference for gaining a quick understanding of these religious movements.

Book Review - Mediating Faith: Faith Formation in a Trans-media Era

I give this book THREE stars.  Theology and technology advancements are two of my passions.  With this book, Schnekloth is helping the reader understand the great place in time to which we are living.  The time through which our own church teachings have been formed through the use of print, is now coming into contact with a new form of technology that is more fluid, engaging, and used in our daily life.  It is now all brought together for the enrichment of a Christian’s life.  Schnekloth places, in the hands of the reader, a wealth of information and insights from other experts which help us realize this great advantage which is before us.  Along with that, Schnekloth’s style of writing encourages the reader to investigate and learn more on this topic.  He introduces, from other authors, a wealth of information for the reader.   Overall, this is a good book.  The book is directed at a very targeted audience. It is for the person who has been...

Goodreads | Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back by Todd Burpo - Reviews, Discussion, Bookclubs, Lists : This is a book that many people have read and many people in congregations have started to talk about. It was not until it was brought before me by others, that I actually stopped and took the time to read through this book. For many people who long to know more about what Heaven looks like and what it is that God has in store for them in their lives. This is a great book to start the conversation of what it is that God is doing in the world and precisely the relationship that God wants for you and for all of us. It does not use big churchy language. It gives an account in rather simple language that God does indeed love his children and does not want you to suffer and get lost within this world of sin and seek only things for your own account. Yet I think that there lies the problem with the book. It is too simple. While it de...
