Comics helping us understand God

Comics are one those powerful things that often can convey a thought, idea, a full story and even render a complex situation seem simple.  Yet it is also through just a picture that a person can bring in to a story elements that were never even included but have been brought into the understanding of the reader because of the society in which the story or event is taking place.

Here is an example within the first comic.  There is no real truth to each one of us having a devil or evil figure or an angel or good figure attempting to influence within our lives.  By the way, if you do see these, please let me know.  However, this understanding does draw us into the understanding that within the world, we face choices and decisions that are good and bad. They can help us, harm others, or anything in between the two or combination.  This understanding has since been a part of people's reading because it makes logical sense.  They may even follow into the way that we encounter the world.

But this world is so complex or at least we make it seem that way.  We try to understand and if we were all truly caring for others and ourselves, we would always listen to the angel on our shoulders.  However, like the comic depicts, the devil on our shoulder often holds our attention and keeps us distracted so that we would listen to him or her instead.  I don't know about you but I have not always seen the clear good or evil within my life as something that would make as clear sense as that which is shown within the comic.

So I instead turn to another comic. While we are living on this world, we have all been created by the same Creator.  (At least through the many mono theological frames that guide the largest groups of religions within the world.)  Through this understanding, people who are opposing each other for whatever issue, event, or circumstance, they are praying to the same God.  Does God care for both people?  YES!  Does God know the outcome of the events, circumstances, or even the better side of the issue?  Perhaps. (I don't know, I am not God and I don't claim to know everything about God.)

Now some people may want to know the exact answer.  They want to know which side God would be on and would God side with them.  For people who are wondering, I would say that YES God is indeed with you because cares about you and is providing for you within this world.  However, I do not know if God is necessarily on your side as in thinking in the same way that you are.  I am not sure a comic, a sermon, a hymn, or even person could tell you that. (unless of course that person was a prophet sent by God to speak the Word of God.  Although I would hope that a sermon would give you some insight, I have heard too many bad sermons.)

If you read this article hoping to see a few comics to help you understand God, well then look above at both.  I think that between the two, they are right.  God is always with you and it is through the good times and the bad times and when we are on other sides of the ball field.  Yet thankfully God, the one who created you and who is still at work within the world, can not be summed up within one or even two comics.  However, we can get a glimpse and that glimpse gives us hope and that hope gives us faith and that faith we share with others because of what we have seen and heard.

Do I think that I have all the answers, by no means.  Is there a lot of grey within this world and even within my understanding of things.  ABSOLUTELY!  Yet I trust in one who has created me and all that exists and trust that God sees things in a black and white way so that God may make the right choice for me and for you.
