Officially a PASTOR!

After months of waiting and wondering when it was going to happen.  I am finally a Pastor. The service was absolutely great.  It went almost exactly as I had planned.  I realized just how truly blessed I am within my life.  Along with that, I was reminded of all the wonderful people who gathered together for a truly great event.

The people involved have been a great support to lead me to this wonderful day.  The Bishop (and his staff) who presided has been great to work with in receiving my call to the congregation.  The minister who preached the sermon has been a pastor within my life since I was a  baby.  For years, I was able to bear witness to someone who has always been a great pastor within my life.  I hope that I can live up to a great example.  The leader who read scripture was a person who I was fortunate enough to work with while at camp.  She was the Camp Director of the Summer Staff.  All the years that I worked with her, I always felt like she trusted us to do our jobs well and that we could do them while at the same time, we were being cared for and watched over so that if things got too bad, we knew we turn to her for help.  It was there at camp, that I felt that God was using me to bring the word of God to life to others.  Then it finally dawned on me that I could be doing this for the rest of my life and I could be walking with others and helping them realize what God was calling them to do within their lives.

My family was present in the laying on the stole.  A definitely unique stole that my mom created from ideas that we brought together.  My dad presented me for Ordination as himself being a Rostered Leader.  After being presented for Ordination, I was given the charges of the office of Pastor.  Then the laying on of hands were done by the Bishop, all Rostered Leaders, my family, Godparents, and then all that were gathered there.  For just as we are all gathered by the Holy Spirit, all that were gathered there, were supporting me within my ministry. Following the Ordination, I continued with the worship service and chanting the Words of Institution.  I thought for sure that I would be nervous, that standing before all my friends, family and the leaders of the church, my voice would crack.  However, I felt relaxed and like I was suppose to be doing this.  (Except for my knees that kept shaking.)

My family then helped serve a meal for all those who gathered for the celebration of this day.  A delicious meal of BBQ pork sandwiches, a salad, chips, and an absolutely beautiful cakes.  The cakes looked good enough that you did not want to eat them.  One with the Luther Rose and Red Stole draped over it for the Ordination and the other of the Cross, the real reason that we are able to gather and I was even able to hold this celebration.  The cakes were made by my cousin who did an amazing job with the caramel and raspberry fillings.

I made sure to go around and talk to everyone who was gathered there.  I wanted them to know how much of a blessing they were within my life and how much I truly appreciated them supporting me this day and always.  I was also reminded of the saints who had gone before me and supported me throughout this journey.  I still can not believe that I am a Pastor.
